For me, the written word still has the power to inspire, ignite, and arouse. Indeed, some of my earliest erotic inspiration came from prose as diverse as the Sapphic verses to the work of Anais Nin and Henry Miller. In homage to the very earliest and proudest pornographic traditions, I have created the Erotic Library. Stories include my own work as well as contributions from friends and fans. Regular visitors may notice that two of the new stories are not illustrated by José Maqueros. Our association came to a dramatic end when Jose came to visit me in London. Jose is a handsome, rugged man with a quiet, natural charisma, which means that women notice him wherever he goes. As a man accustomed to herding goats and quiet Spanish life, he literally became like a kid in a sweet shop when he came to visit me. The Sweetmeats girls adored him. All of my other female friends adored him. In fact, just about every woman we met adored Jose. I admit we had the time of our lives as José and I filled our days with all that London has to offer. Nights were filled with riotous laughter, passionate women and copious wine. When at last his holiday ended, Jose returned to his quiet home.....and to his wife. When the truth about what had gone on in London finally emerged, José's wife was furious. My negotiation skills were pushed to the limit as I tried to placate the enraged Senora who blamed me for her husband's repeated transgressions. Over the intervening months, we have made peace. But, in a bid to prevent her husband from straying again, Señora Maqueros has forbade José to have anything to do with Sweetmeats--and that includes illustrating the stories. We still speak when we can, but I do miss my friend. On the positive side, I have been able to introduce two new talented artists to the Sweetmeats clan. Teresa Winston has illustrated Summer in the City-Meeting Stephanie, and P. J. Ballard has illustrated Holiday Snaps-Self Service. As more stories are written and more illustrations are made, I am thinking of creating a Sweetmeats Gallery where the artwork is available for purchase. If there is enough interest, fans shall be able to purchase limited edition original prints of their favourite illustrations directly from the artist. If this piques your interest, let me know. In the meantime, enjoy! |
